Oasis , the iconic English rock band, was formed in Manchester in 1991. Led by the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, the band became one of the defining acts of the Britpop genre. Their debut album, Definitely Maybe (1994), was a massive success and became the fastest-selling debut album in British history at the time. They followed this with (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995), which became one of the best-selling albums of all time and solidified their place in music history. The 1990s were a golden era for Oasis , marked by their chart-topping hits, massive outdoor concerts like the legendary Knebworth shows in 1996, and a highly publicized rivalry with Blur known as the "Battle of Britpop".
