TURNIP MUSIC RADIO TOP 25 FOR
JANUARY 2024
Team Derringer kick off their new (and fourth!) year of podcasting with the Turnip Music Radio (TMR) Countdown - January 2024 episode! Indie singer-songwriters, hard rockers, and brand-new artists are joined on this month’s countdown with legends and industry heavyweights who collaborated to put a fresh new spin on a 1980s classic.
There were a ton of Derringer Discoveries listeners who voted to put their favorite songs on this month’s TMR Top 25! Listener Britanny(IG: @brithemcd ) heavily recruited the Misfits – the fanbase of the multi-media hard rockers Crossbone Skully – to vote. The fanbase turned out in droves to support this newly formed rock and roll group who are making their first appearance on the TMR Top 25 chart and playlist.
The TMR Top 25 is populated with music by artists from around the world. This month, there are entries from 11 countries (Australia, Canada, France, Norway, Ireland, the Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States, and the United Kingdom). You’re sure to find some great new music to enjoy.
The Turnip Music Radio (TMR) Top 25 is a curated Spotify music chart by Derringer Discoveries. The chart is updated monthly and reflects our current 25 favorite, new songs by recording artists worldwide. The TMR Top 25 focuses on fresh folk, adult rock, alternative rock, rock & roll, and power pop. The chart is populated each month with the latest music that has been voted on by our listeners. This means that you can vote for your favorite songs and help them land on the TMR Top 25 chart!
During the month, Team Derringer (Paul, Laura, and Alton) curate music from around the world and introduce the best ones to you, our listeners, on the Compelling & New playlist. The songs land on Team Derringer's radar in one of three ways: (1) as a direct submission from a listener or artist through our website; (2) as a submission via Soundplate.com (UK), and (3) as chosen by a member of Team Derringer. Anyone submitting a song recommendation for Compelling & New will need to first subscribe to our free newsletter.
The #1 song from each month for the current year will become a finalist for Song of the Year. In December, we will submit a ballot to our listeners containing the twelve #1 songs from the current year. Our listeners will then decide Song of the Year.
